Quick Bites: In Pursuit of Happyness

In Pursuit of Happyness was not a pain to watch; ie. I was not watching the sufferings of an individual only; there were plenty of positives even early on. However, I also felt that the movie was a little dry. I wasn’t too involved… the movie made me feel… umm… nothing. And that was sad.

Will Smith had a few Will Smithism… but on the whole he was ok. The kid… Smith jr… was cute… and constructed to be so… there was very little ‘real’ child in him… he was more cute performer… rather than a distinct character which his own voice and identity that shapes the course of things.

*spoiler ahead* The positive plot ending was nice… but too abrupt… except the last line… “this is happiness” was actually quite well done. *spoilers ended*

So on the whole, nice movie. Will be a little boring for some people… but I didn’t mind it… but I didn’t really care for it too much either.

Back from the (living) dead

It’s not that I hadn’t watched a movie all this time… but 2007 has been very tight in terms of time. I haven’t been able to keep up with writing about the movies I watched… and let alone comment on them. But I know that the value of this site… if only for me… is to prevent me from being passive… comotos… dead while watching… and so, talking about something is like ‘giving back’… rather than just taking. So, I guess I need to just get back to writing short updates on what I have seen and a few words about it… that’s it. No pressure… nothing fancy… only very brief insights into the movies I love and (hate).
